How to Download Pinterest Videos on iPhone and Android

Pinterest is useful for collecting recipes, tutorials, workouts and ideas, but a saved pin is not always available when you are offline. If you own the video or have permission to keep a copy, Downloadit can resolve a publicly accessible video pin without asking for a Pinterest login. This guide explains the process on both major mobile platforms and shows what to check when the result is unavailable.

Before you begin

Use the original pin link, not a profile, board or search-results link. Open the pin in Pinterest, tap it so it opens as a single item, choose Share, and select Copy link. A public link should open in a logged-out browser. If Pinterest asks you to sign in before showing the pin, an anonymous downloader cannot fetch it.

iPhone and iPad steps

Open Safari and visit the Pinterest Video Downloader. Paste the copied URL into the input and choose Get Media. Auto Detect finds the media by default. Wait for the result card, check that the preview is the video you intended to save, then select Download. Safari normally places the MP4 in Files > Downloads. Tap the download control in Safari if iOS asks where to save it.

To move the file to Photos, open Files, find Downloads, tap the file, then use Share and Save Video if that option is available. Keep the original file in Files if you want to preserve it without importing it into your camera roll. If the browser opens the file instead of saving it, use Safari’s share sheet or long-press the download control.

Android steps

Open Chrome or another current browser, visit the same tool, paste the public pin URL, and select Get Media. Verify the preview before downloading. Android usually saves the MP4 in the Downloads folder. Open the Files app and sort by recent items if you cannot find it. Some phone manufacturers display downloaded videos in Gallery after the media scanner finishes.

If you copied the link inside a messaging app, paste it into the browser first and confirm it opens the correct pin. Tracking parameters are normally harmless, but a truncated link is not. Copy again from the pin’s Share menu when in doubt.

What the tool can and cannot do

The tool works with public video pins that expose a progressive video file. It does not open private boards, bypass a login, or recover a deleted pin. A streaming-only pin may play on Pinterest but still not provide a file that an anonymous service can download. The best available public rendition is returned as MP4 where supported; the service does not add a watermark.

If the preview is unavailable

First open the pin directly. If it no longer plays, it may be deleted or restricted. If it plays, copy a fresh link and submit it again because signed media addresses can expire. Check your connection, disable a browser content blocker for this page, and try the current version of Safari or Chrome. Never enter a Pinterest password into a downloader.

Responsible saving

Saving a public link does not transfer copyright. Keep copies of your own work or media you have permission to use. Do not re-upload another creator’s video, remove attribution, or use a saved file commercially without permission. For a practical workflow, resolve the pin, preview it, rename the file with the creator or project name, and store the permission note with it.

A small real-world example

Suppose a recipe creator sends you a public pin and says you may keep it for a cooking class. Copy the pin link on your phone, resolve it, confirm the preview, and save the MP4. Rename it “lentil-soup-class.mp4,” keep the message granting permission, and use the file only for that class. This simple record prevents a later misunderstanding.

For image pins, use the Pinterest Image Downloader. For questions about ownership and reuse, read the DMCA page and Terms.

A better mobile checklist

Before starting, make sure the phone has enough free storage for the video. A browser download can fail silently when storage is full, especially after recording a long camera video. Keep the browser tab open until the transfer finishes, and avoid submitting the same link repeatedly while the first request is still working. If you are on a metered connection, wait for Wi-Fi because a high-quality MP4 can be considerably larger than the small preview shown in the pin.

On iPhone, Safari may ask whether you want to download or open a file. Choose the download action, then use the down-arrow in the toolbar to confirm progress. In Files, tap and hold the file to rename it or move it into a project folder. On Android, Chrome’s download notification provides a direct path to the file. If Gallery does not show it immediately, open Files first; the media scanner may need a moment before it appears in a gallery app.

Why a permission note helps

People often save a public video for a legitimate reason and then forget where it came from. Keep the pin URL, creator name and the date permission was given in a note beside the file. If the creator later changes the pin or deletes it, you still know why the copy exists. This is especially useful for teachers, editors and small businesses managing several approved assets. A saved copy should be treated as a backup with a purpose, not as a licence to publish everywhere.

The service does not request a password, cookie export or account session. If a third-party page asks for any of those, close it. A legitimate public-link workflow needs the URL and a browser, not private credentials.

A reminder that applies to every guide here: only download content you own or have permission to reuse. Saving your own posts is always fine; republishing someone else's work needs their permission first.

Try it on a real link

Open the Pinterest Video Downloader and paste a public link to put this guide into practice.
